calendar-icon-100246824-galleryWhen the year comes up in a script, I’ve noticed the client & voice will have a quick discussion over how to say “2018” – two-thousand-and-eighteen or twenty-eighteen.

At the turn of the millennium, everyone knew that 2000 would be two thousand. Because of Stanley Kubrick’s masterpiece, everyone also knew 2001 would be two thousand and one, and thereafter, through the rest of the noughties, it was always two-thousand-and, with the number at the end.

I believe that question was finally answered during the 2012 London Olympics – it’s Twenty-Twelve.

No-one reading this is going to have to worry about how 2100, 2101, etc. will be said, but let this settle it for this century.
