Yulin believes that actors have the unique gift and responsibility of empathising through embodiment, and in so doing, reminding us of our common humanity. An actor is a brave human being who is willing to sit in the questions, the uncertainty, the vulnerability and not run away from the discomfort of these universal human experiences. They occupy the liminal space between outcast and spokesperson, constantly negotiating boundaries and offering new ways of being, thinking and seeing.

Yulin is also an aspiring filmmaker and made a short film called Vignettes in 2011. She is also a theatre maker with a strong interest in design, dramaturgy, as well as the re-adaptation of classics. In her final year at LASALLE, she was voted by her peers and lecturer to direct a reinterpretation of Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night. She desires to make theatre that is relevant in time and place, universal, honest, visceral, imaginative and playful. She wants to push the boundaries of theatre, playing with place, the five senses and audience interaction. She also has a strong desire to see the world from different perspectives through travel, and to engage with marginalised persons and communities.

Yulin holds a BA (Hons) Acting from LASALLE-Goldsmiths, as well as a BA Psychology from the University of Queensland.
